What customers need
Interviews with dental lab owners, managers, and dental technicians, all with longstanding experience in CADCAM restorations, revealed the following.
CADCAM is regularly used to produce crowns and bridges, but many of the labs would like to use it for inlays, onlays, and customized abutments (most frequently mentioned). A greater range of applications is the most important aspect today.
Most labs use zirconium dioxide based materials, but they would like to employ titanium and lithium-disilicate, as well as cobalt-chromium (most frequently mentioned). Dental labs would like to have access to many different and new types of materials.
Both application range and material offering were stated as very important to meet the individual needs of all potential clients.
